“Will Discuss With Sharad Pawar”: Jayant Patil On Jitendra Awhad’s Resignation

Jayant Patil said that Awhad resigned out of anger. Now the question is will NCP Chief Sharad Pawar approve his resignation?

Mumbai: NCP leader Jitendra Awhad has submitted his resignation from the position of MLA to NCP state president Jayant Patil. Kalwa Khadi Bridge was inaugurated on November 13 by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. A woman filed a case of molestation against Jitendra Awhad alleging that he tried to molest her during the ceremony. A case has been filed against him under section 354 at the Mumbra police station, alleging that he touched her by mistake.

Regarding this, on November 14 Awhad held a press conference with Jayant Patil. Jayant il said that he resigned out of anger. Now the question is will NCP Chief Sharad Pawar approve his resignation?

Jayant Patil said, “Jitendra Awad has submitted his resignation to me. He has resigned from the position of MLA. I am trying to stop him, and have asked him to take back his resignation. But he has submitted his resignation to me. Now I will take his resignation letter to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and will discuss this with him.”

Kalwa Khadi Bridge was inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on November 13. MP Shrikant Shinde and MLA Jitendra Awad were present at the ceremony. A woman who attended the ceremony has alleged that Awhad touched her inappropriately.

Last week Awhad was arrested for disrupting a show of the Marathi film ‘Har Har Mahadev’ in Thane over “distorting the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” He is currently out on bail. Now 2 cases are registered against him. He is charged under sections 323 (assault) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).

“I will fight against this police brutality. I cannot simply watch this murder of democracy,” said Jitendra Awhad, MLA from the Mumbra-Kalwa constituency in Thane, in his tweet in Marathi.
