Vaidya said the youth constituted 60% of total shakhas and 29% were managed by young traders. “There are only 11% of elders as members.”
Bhubneshwar: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has massively grown after 2010 when the BJP was working hard to come back to power and has added close to 20,000 shakhas since then.
“RSS took a decision to expand the organization across India in the year 2009. We experienced growth after 2010. Since then, 19,584 new shakhas have joined us. Currently, 57,411 shakhas meet every morning across the country,” said Manmohan Vaidya, Saha Sarkaryavah, addressed a press conference in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The three-day-long Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal got underway here from Wednesday. Top office-bearers of including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and deputy chief Suresh Bhyaji Joshi, along with all regional heads of the organization, are participating. The meeting will take stock of organizational activities, including plans of expansion and training of cadre.
Around 1,585 daily shakhas were added since October 2018. Currently, weekly RSS assemblies have reached 18,923, an addition of 1,879 in one year.
“Between 2010 to 2014, only 6,000 shakhas had joined us. After 2014, we have been rising continuously. The situation is favourable for growth and readiness among people to connect with the RSS is also increasing,” said Vaidya. Since 2014, RSS has been strengthened across India by the addition of 13,584 shakhas.
On the RSS website, it has options for extending an invitation to join the organization. From 2014 to 2016, the RSS was strengthened it’s cader by the addition of an average of 90,000 to 95,000 annually. By 2017, the average annual addition has been over one lakh. “This shows a rise in readiness to join the RSS,” said Vaidya.
There is no doubt ignoring the impression of the RSS being an organization of elders, Vaidya said the youth constituted 60% of total shakhas and 29% were managed by young traders. “There are only 11% of elders as members.”
The RSS is now out to form new cadre-based wings to advise people on keeping the joint family system intact, saving the environment and sustaining farm-based local development.
When questioned over the Ayodhya matter, Vaidya said, “The issue of Ram Temple is not political. It is a matter of faith in the entire Hindu society. The court verdict has been pending for long. It is better if it comes as early as possible.”
“Even the abrogation of Article 370 was not a political issue. As per the Constitution, it was a temporary article. All parties had extended their support to abrogate the article while participating in a private bill in 1994. There was a national consensus. Earlier government neglected the decision; this government took.”
Currently, BJP is growing roots in West Bengal despite threats that are frequently done by the ruling party TMC. The state of West Bengal has also seen clashes since RSS existence has increased. During the Lok Sabha elections also BJP gained more seats compared to last time. Even in South India RSS has grown its influence. In Northeast India, the awareness of RSS currently, is seen in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Tripura which is ruled by BJP.
