MUMBAI| On Friday as soon as taking charge as Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray said his government has put the Metro 3 car shed work on hold taking place in Aaarey forest. Forget the tree not a single leaf from Aarey to rip Uddhav Thackeray added.

The newly-elected Chief Minister said, “Will review the whole issue and work towards options rather than Aarey forest. No doubt development should happen but by demolishing the wealth we hold is not what development means”.

BJP government giving clarification to Mumbaikars where Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in September said that Aarey Colony is government’s land and does not fall under a forest area. The government also argued that if commuters use the Metro instead of private cars, it will help in bringing down carbon emission.

The Bombay High Court had on 4 October refused to declare Aarey Colony a forest and declined to quash the Mumbai municipal corporation’s decision to allow felling of over 2,600 trees in the green zone to set up a metro car shed.
