“I request all my friends to boycott Deepika Padukone movies for her support to the Tukde-Tukde gang from JNU,” wrote Bagga
New Delhi: Actress Deepika Padukone gives pleasant surprise to the students of JNU on Tuesday evening. She hung around for about 10 minutes and left without saying anything.
BJP’s spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga on the wrong side took a jibe at Deeepika’s visit in JNU. He urged people for a boycotting of her films. “I request all my friends to boycott Deepika Padukone movies for her support to the Tukde-Tukde gang from JNU,” wrote Bagga.
Bans don’t bother the Padmaavat actress much. She has gone through these motions before when the Karni Sena protested against her movie.
Deepika Padukone was in Delhi to promote her upcoming film Chhapaak; while visiting the varsity she was in a black ensemble – possibly to show her solidarity with the students. She was greeted with the customary chants of ‘Azadi’ which perhaps raised Bagga’s hackles.
Soon after Deepika left, Swara Bhasker, whose parents stay on the campus, hailed the visit. On Monday, Padukone had spoken to media about the agitation, saying that she was proud “people are not scared”.
“I feel proud of myself and we are not scared, the fact that we are thinking about this and about the future of India. it is nice to see people are coming out on the road to voice this and express themselves. Because if we want to see change, this is very significant,” she said.
In an interview also, Deepika shared her angst over the current violence. “I am very angry at what has happened, but it is worse than no action has been taken,” said Pakudone.
