After SC dismissal, Randeep Surjewala raises nine questions regarding Rafale deal

Surjewala has raised almost nine relevant questions regarding Rafale deal and according to him, the central government has still not answered any of it

New Delhi: After dismissing the plea of supreme court seeking review of its judgment on Rafale deal, the Centre and the BJP demanded an apology from Congress.

However, Congress leader and spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has said the Centre and the BJP are again misleading the nation. “The truth is that there are nine key questions that Congress and Rahul Gandhi kept answering but the government had not answered,” Mr. Surjewala said.

On the judgment, the Congress leader Surjewala said: “Instead of celebrating, the BJP should understand that the Supreme Court judgment has opened the door for an elaborate criminal investigation.”

The Apex Court has said their power to investigate is limited but it can be done by police, CBI or any other independent investigator, he noted.

The Congress party has reiterated that only an investigation and a JPC can shed light on Rafale’s case.

Surjewala has raised almost nine relevant questions regarding Rafale deal and according to him, the central government has still not answered any of it.

On May 10, the top court had reserved the decision on the pleas seeking a re-examination of its findings that there was no occasion to doubt the decision-making process in the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets. On December 14, 2018, the Court had dismissed the petitions seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities in the Rs 58,000 crore deal.
