Ahead Of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Polls 26 Congress Leaders Join BJP

Dharamshala: Ahead of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 26 Congress leaders quit the party on Monday. After quitting they joined Bharatiya Janata Party four days before the state votes. This comes as a big jolt to the Congress party with less than a week to go for the polling.

In the presence of Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and BJP’s Sudhan Singh, in charge of BJP state elections, the leaders joined BJP. Bhartiya Janata Party┬аcandidate from Shimla, Sanjay Sood, was too present at the event where 26 leaders joined BJP.

According to ANI reports, former Congress general secretary Dharampal Thakur, former secretary Akash Saini, former councilor Rajan Thakur, former district vice president Amit Mehta, Mehr Singh Kanwar, Youth Congress president Rahul Negi, Jai Maa Shakti Social Sansthan president Joginder Thakur, Naresh Verma, Chamyana ward member Yogendra Singh, taxi union member Rakesh Chauhan, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage Shimla president Dharmendra Kumar, Virendra Sharma, Rahul Rawat, Sonu Sharma, Arun Kumar, Shivam Kumar, and Gopal Thakur, have joined Bharatiya Janata Party.

Chaman Lal, District Congress Committee secretary Devendra Singh, Mahendra Singh, former general secretary of Youth Congress Munish Mandla, Balkrishna Bobby, Sunil Sharma, Surendra Thakur, Sandeep Samta, and Ravi too switched sides.

Extending a warm welcome to all the workers in the BJP, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur tweeted, “Today many colleagues including former office bearers of Congress party of Shimla left the Congress party and joined BJP. A warm welcome to all of you in the BJP family. Let us work together for the historic victory of the BJP.”

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Polls are scheduled on November 12. The results of the assembly polls will be out on December 8.
