Congress Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel has raised concern over the land acquisition process in the upcoming MUMBAI – Ahemdabad Bullet Train Project.
In its letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the veteran Congress leader from Gujarat has pointed out few problems in the land acquisition process conducted by the National Highway Speed Rail Cooperation (NHSRC).
“Our objective is not to obstruct the project the government is undertaking. But in the process of building a bullet train one can’t bulldoze the constitutional rights of farmers,” tweeted Patel along with an image of the two-page letter written the Prime Minister.

Patel also accused the BJP led Gujarat government of exercising the process under the diluted version of 2013 land acquisition act, which runs contrary to the law passed by the Parliament.
“Farmers representatives have complained that the rules and procedures under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisitions, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act,2013 are not being adhered to,” added the Congress leader.
