AIMPLB to sack Maulana Nadvi for talks with Hindu leaders

Maulana Nadvi had offered a compromise formula supporting the construction of Ram temple at the disputed site.

The Ayodhya Dispute has been stretched for long and is not reaching any concrete conclusion. The case is currently in Supreme Court for final hearing. However, the stakeholders and community leaders are trying for an out-of-court settlement with a compromise formula.

Maulana Nadvi, The executive member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board a few days ago had met spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and had offered a compromise formula. He had given a nod for the construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site on a condition that the Muslim community gets land to build the Babri mosque somewhere else.

His comments had not gone down well with the AIMPLB. AIMPLB cleared that the outfit does not endorse it’s member’s statement. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that according to Shariah law once a land is used for Masjid, it belongs to Allah and can’t be sold or transferred. He also slammed Sri Sri for interfering in the matter.

The AIMPLB had formed a committee to probe the statements made by Maulana Nadvi. Now the sources from the AIMPLB working committee confirmed that the outfit has decided to sack Maulana Nadvi. “The decision has been taken. He has been suspended,” he said.

The committee constituted to probe Nadvi’s statement included President Maulana Syed Rabey Hasani Nadwi, general secretary Maulana Wali Rahmani, secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani and Jamiat-e-Ulama chief and aamilah member Maulana Arshad Madani.
