“All Speculations Of Portfolios Are Baseless “, Says Spokesperson Of Eknath Shinde Camp

Deepak Kesarkar

Citizens of Maharashtra had voted for the Shiv Sena and the BJP to stay together but a new coalition was created with the Nationalist Congress Party and Congress instead

New Delhi: Just as rebel Shiv Sena faction leader Eknath Shinde left for Mumbai to meet the Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Khoshiyari, and support the BJP in forming a new government, the spokesman of the rebel faction MLA Deepak Kesarkar chaired a press conference in Goa repeatedly stressing that its ideology, and not expectations of plum postings with cabinet portfolios, that led them to break off from the Thackerays and go with BJP.

“All speculations of portfolios are baseless. No decision has been taken on dividing portfolios,” Mr. Kesarkar said.

Citizens of Maharashtra had voted for the Shiv Sena and the BJP to stay together but a new coalition was created with the Nationalist Congress Party and Congress instead, Mr. Kesarkar said, adding that the party compromised with ideology and ignored appeals from many Sena leaders who warned against attempts by Congress to weaken Shiv Sena.

On Wednesday late evening Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in an emotional address to the citizens of Maharashtra, resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Thackeray also announced his resignation as a member of the legislative council. Thackeray resolved to never hold any political post in the future and will head Shiv Sena.

According to sources, the Devendra Fadnvanis Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra is likely to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister on Friday.
