Arun Jaitley no more: Final rites to be conducted at Nigam Bodh Ghat at 2.30 PM

Arun Jaitley’s body has been kept at the BJP headquarters for his supporter and partymen to pay last respects. He breathed his last on Saturday.

 

New Delhi| The body of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Finance Minister of India Arun Jaitley has been kept at the headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Here, Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Arun Jaitley. Jaitley’s body will be kept here for the last darshan till afternoon where his fans and supporters can pay their last respect. He will be cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat this afternoon at 2.30 PM.

“I lost my friend”: PM Modi

PM Modi said that my friend Arun went today. He said, “Bahrain, on one side, is full of excitement. The country is celebrating Krishna Janmashtami. At the same time, I am standing amongst you, hiding deep grief and deep pain within me.”

He added, “The friend with whom I walked together in public life, embarked on the political journey together, with whom I remained connected all the time, with whom I faced struggles, dreamt and fulfilled those dream, that friend Arun Jaitley, country’s former defence and finance minister, passed away today.”

“I can’t imagine that I am so far here while my friend has gone away. Some days ago, we lost our former External Affairs Minister Behen Sushma Ji. Today I have lost my friend Arun,” he added.

Arun Jaitley breathed his last on Saturday

Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley died on Saturday at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Jaitley was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 9, after breathing troubles. However, he breathed his last on Saturday afternoon.
