New Delhi | Samajwadi Party leader and Rampur MP Azam Khan today tendered his apology over his remark on BJP MP Rama Devi.
Apologizing for his remark, Khan said,” I never had any such intention towards the chair. Entire house know my language and behavior, even if the chair feels that I have made a mistake then I apologise for it.”
Responding to the apology, BJP MP Rama Devi said,”: Azam Khan ji’s remark has hurt both women and men in India. He will not understand this. I have not come here to hear such comments.”
Accepting Azam Khan apology, Lok Sabha speaker OM Birla said,”This House belongs to all and it runs on support from everyone. Members must refrain from using language that affects the dignity of the House.”
However Samajwadi Party chief and Azamgarh MP Akhilesh Yadav raising the issue of the security of Unnao Rape victim said,” Azam Khan ji has said what he wanted to say. What about the ‘beti’ in Unnao? We should also talk about that.”
The entire incident occurred when participating in the debate on the triple talaq bill, Khan made certain observations on a ruling party member. Rama Devi asked Khan to address the chair and not to look at other members. At this, the SP member made some objectionable remarks on the chair.
