Bihar Health Minister asks cricket score during press conference on AES deaths

Patna | Amid rising death toll of children due to encephalitis in Bihar Muzaffarpur, state Health minister Mangal Pandey has sparked a controversy.

During the press conference by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan over the death of more than 100 kids in Bihar in the last week, Mangal Pandey is seen asking the reporters present in the press conference about the status of the India-Pakistan match in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup

In a video posted by News Agency ANI, the state Health minister is seen asking the reporters, “How many wickets have fallen till now?” to which the reporter replied “Four wickets.”

Opposition parties have demanded Pandey resignation over showing insensitivity over the death of the kids. HAM spokesperson Danish Rizwan said the State Health Minister’s priority was cricket, and not children dying from encephalitis.

106 children have died in the last two weeks in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur due to encephalitis. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has already visited the SKMC Hospital along with his deputy Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Sunday while state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be visiting the hospital today.
