BJP fields Gautam Gambhir from East Delhi; Meenakshi Lekhi from New Delhi

New Delhi | Former cricketer turned politician will be contesting from the East Delhi constituency, and BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi will be contesting from New Delhi, in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Gambhir has replaced Maheish Girri as the party’s candidate and will take on Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress and Atishi of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

While Lekhi will contest against Congress’s Ajay Maken AAP’s Brajesh Goel from New Delhi.

BJP had announced four seats for Delhi and had retained most of its sitting MPs.

Earlier, BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari filed his papers from the North East parliamentary constituency and lawmaker Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma from West Delhi constituency.

Delhi will contest its elections on the sixth phase of polling, that is, on May 12 on seven seats.

The results of the counting will be declared on May 23.
