The BJP has decided to contest the parliamentary polls in 2019 under the leadership of Amit Shah, the BJP president. At a key meeting that was held in Delhi today, the party has decided to defer the internal polls, for selecting a new leader, since Amit Shah’s term as a president finishes in January 2019.

Amit Shah declared at the 2-day meeting that BJP will return with a bigger victory than what it saw in the 2014 elections. The meeting was attended by senior party leaders and party workers. The meeting was called upon so as to discuss the party’s preparations ahead of the elections in four states and the national election in 2019.

A slogan of “Ajey BJP” (Invincible BJP) was adopted at the national meeting of the party in the presence of the presidents of state units. Shah told the leaders to work extensively for the triumph of the party in the five states and a decision was taken to give more attention elections in Telangana which is anticipated to go polls with Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan.

The meeting that will be conducted for 2 days will be attended by the central leadership, comes in the wake of unrest among upper castes which forms to be the backbone of the BJP, protests of the farmers and the fury in the SC/ST community.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the meeting on Sunday. The BJP is as of now focusing on highlighting the steps of the centre for “social justice” and “economic successes”, aside of its schemes for poor.

As per the sources, the issues of the National Register of Citizens will also be taken up for the discussion at this meet. More so, the pro-poor programmes of PM Modi that focus on “social justice”, the rise in the Minimum Support Price for a number of farm produce and spike in the economic growth in the last quarter to 8.2 percent will also be taken up.
