BJP, Shiv Sena Workers Clash Outside Sena HQ Over Ram Temple’s Alleged Scam; 40 Detained

BJYM workers had organized a ‘Phatkar Morcha’ against Shiv Sena for their “offensive” remarks following the editorial in the party mouthpiece and leader Sanjay Raut’s statement.

Workers of the Shiv Sena and BJP’s Youth Wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) clashed outside the Sena Bhawan in Mumbai’s Dadar on Wednesday over the recent alleged scam in Ram Mandir and the Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna‘s editorial on the same. At least 40 BJYM workers have been detained by the police.

BJYM workers had organized a ‘Phatkar Morcha’ against Shiv Sena for their “offensive” remarks following the editorial in the party mouthpiece and leader Sanjay Raut’s statement.

As the BJYM staged their protest outside the Sena headquarters, matters escalated soon and a scuffle broke out between the workers of both parties.

BJYM workers have alleged that the Shiv Sena workers who were already present at the spot assaulted their workers including women.

BJP leaders Ashish Shelar, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Pravin Darekar, and others reached the police station and demanded action against Shiv Sena activists. Shelar, an MLA and former Maharashtra minister, warned of strong retaliation in the future. “I warn Shiv Sena workers of retaliation if they again attacked our workers,” he said according to Mid-Day, alleging that Sena workers also attacked a woman supporter of the BJP in the presence of police.

“The Sena was once proud of the demolition of the Babri mosque, but now for political reasons, it is defaming Lord Ram. Sonia or Vadra (Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra) have now become the Sena’s deities,” he said, talking about the Sena’s alliance with the Congress in Maharashtra.

Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar said, “We were first told that BJP workers were coming to protest, later we learned that they are coming to vandalize the Sena Bhavan. So we stopped them before they could reach near it.”

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday had said that the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust in Ayodhya should clarify the allegations levelled against them. He also said that he spoke to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, who had originally levelled allegations of corruption and said that he found the evidence provided by the AAP lawmaker ‘shocking’.

“The Trust formed for the construction of the temple should clarify if the allegations are true or false. The temple’s ‘bhoomipujan’ ceremony was also attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. They should also speak out,” Raut had said.

He also said that the Shiv Sena was always committed to the building of the grand Ram Temple and it was a matter of faith for them as well as the people of the nation. Raut said that the members of the Trust were appointed by the BJP and Shiv Sena should have been made part of the body.

Meanwhile, Mahim police registered an FIR against 7 Shiv Sena leaders/workers in connection to a scuffle between BJYM workers & Shiv Sena. FIR has been registered under IPC Sections 141, 143, 147, 149, 392, 324, 323, 354 and 509, reported ANI.
