BJP slams Congress for “secret meeting” with labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn

A very productive meeting with UK representatives from the Indian National Congress Party was discussing the human rights situation in Kashmir said Corbyn

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked Congress after the latter held a meeting with UK representatives along with the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn.

“Appalling! Congress owes it to the people of India to explain what its leaders are telling foreign leaders about India. India will give a befitting reply to Congress for these shameful shenanigans,” the BJP tweeted on Jeremy Corbyn’s meeting with the members of overseas congress.

The Labour Party leader said “A very productive meeting with UK representatives from the Indian National Congress Party were discussing the human rights situation in Kashmir. There must be de-escalated and the cycle of violence and fear which has plagued the region for a long time.”

Prominent among them is Kamal Dhaliwal, who is the Congress UK wing president. It is believed that he is close to Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leader Anand Sharma said “We are shocked by this misrepresentation. Any issue pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir are purely India’s internal affairs,”.

“We dismiss any claim in entirety. I am conveying this to the leadership of the Labour Party and to Barry Gardener, who heads the foreign affairs department of Labour Party to convey this to Jeremy Corbyn,” added Sharma.

On Thursday Congress accused the BJP of making a malicious statement after the saffron party asked the Congress to explain British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn’s tweet actually means.

The UK unit of the Indian Overseas Congress claimed it had met Corbyn to condemn the Kashmir resolution passed by his party and iterate to them that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter and no intervention will be accepted.

Congress also said that the BJP has failed to answer questions on the economic slowdown, unemployment, and banking crisis and fake promises to spreading lies instead.

The delegation was never authorised by the party and that “the party’s position is clear Kashmir is an integral part of India and an internal matter of the country” said Congress in Delhi.

India has been firm on its stand that its move on Kashmir is an internal matter and no third party has any role in it.
