BJP wants to create rift between Hindu and Muslim through Ram Mandir: Karnataka Congress MLA

Bengaluru | Karnataka Congress MLA Roshan Baig on Thursday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to create a rift between the Hindus and Muslims by bringing up the Ram Mandir issue.

Speaking to media, Baig claimed that the government is bringing an ordinance on Ram Mandir due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He further added that people are unhappy with rising fuel prices and GST so they want to rake up this Ram Mandir issue.

Taking a dig at the Central government, the Congress MLA asked, “If Ram Mandir isn’t constructed in India, will it be constructed in Pakistan? It should be built in India only.” Questioning the government Baig said, “Matter is before the court. Now they’re trying to bring an ordinance. Why did they not do this in 4.5 yrs?”

Earlier the Supreme Court on 29 October adjourned the hearing of the decade-old Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute till January 2019. The top court bench including Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SK Kaul and Justice M Joseph has postponed the matter till January 2019 to fix the date of hearing in the Ayodhya title suit. Earlier the Supreme Court in September had announced that the hearing of Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute will begin from October 29.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, “It will come up in the first week of January not for hearing but for deciding the date of the hearing. The hearing may be in January, February, March, whenever….also the bench by which it shall be heard will be constituted.
