BJP has washing machine, we clean leaders before they enter the party: Raosaheb Danve

Union Minister Raosaheb Danve said that BJP has a washing machine and Nirma Powder from Gujrat that cleanses leaders before they enter the party.

Mumbai| Ministers in the Modi government and controversies are like two sides of one coin. Some Ministers are famous for their peculiar statements. Adding to the list is Rao Saheb Danve Patil who was picked up from Maharashtra and made a Union Minister by the PM Modi.

Danve, on Wednesday, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has a washing machine. He was addressing the Mahajanadesh Yatra Sabha held in Jalna, Maharashtra. He said that before allowing anyone entry into the party, BJP cleanses them by putting them in the washing machine, then take them into the party. He further said that the party has special “Nirma powder from Gujarat” for the cleansing.

His statement was clearly referring to the NCP-Congress leaders jumping the ship to join BJP-Shivsena. In the past, several leaders from NCP and Congress including prominent names like Sachin Ahir, Chitra Vagh, Kalidas Kolambkar, Shivendraraje Bhonsale etc have joined Sena-BJP. Even Satara’s MP Udyanraje Bhosale might jump the ship. In light of the so-called “Mega Bharati” (Mega Recruitment), several opposition leaders have criticised the BJP-Sena saying the corruption tag on the leaders suddenly vanishes once they join BJP.

Raosaheb Danve’s statement came in the reaction of these allegations. Raosaheb Danve Patil was the state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Maharashtra before becoming a minister in the central government. After becoming a minister, he resigned from the post of State Party President. He was addressing the Mahajanadesh Yatra Sabha on Wednesday for the Maharashtra assembly elections.

This is not the first time that Raosaheb Danve has made such a controversial statement. During the Lok Sabha elections this year, he was enraged at a question by the workers in Jalna, Maharashtra, about the purchase of pulses. He had said, “The state government is buying pulses. You read the newspaper more. Stop crying now.” Reportedly, he also used abusive words. Not only this, but Danve has also given a controversial statement about the suicide of farmers.
