BJP’s Subramanian Swamy calls Congress-JDS as ‘big losers’, says arrogance caused BJP’s downfall

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Saturday fired the first salvo at the Central Government on Karnataka developments, saying that ‘monopoly and arrogance’ resulted in the party ‘snatching’ defeat from the jaws of victory. Swamy, known for being vocal about his opinions took to Twitter to share his thoughts regarding the issue.

Even as Congress-JDS combine was celebrating and termed the developments as a victory for democracy, Swamy – almost an hour after his first tweet – fired a second shot on the micro-blogging site. “Let us not forget bottom line: BJP increased MLAs 2 1/2 times to 104 and first past the post. Two big losers banded together and are slated to form the government.”

Swamy did not name anyone in particular, but he appeared to be articulating the views of a section in the party about the way in which the party conducted the elections and post-election strategizing. He referred to pooling of brains in an indication that some leaders could also have added to the BJP armoury.
