New Delhi| Malegaon blasts accused and BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur has been included in the defence panel of the parliament. According to media reports, Pragya Thakur has also been included in the Parliamentary Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Defence. The committee has a total of 21 members and is headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The inclusion of the disputed BJP MP in this committee is expected to stoke a political ruckus.

Pawar and Farooq Abdullah in the 21-member committee

The Parliamentary Committee of the Ministry of Defense consists of 21 members. Along with the disputed MP of BJP, Pragya Singh Thakur, it has also given place to prominent faces of opposition parties. Opposition MPs include former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. However, there can be a lot of controversy as Pragya’s name is in this committee. On the other hand, Farooq Abdullah is still placed under detention in Jammu and Kashmir after the Central Govt abrogated Article 370 from the state three months ago.

Pragya Thakur is Lok Sabha MP from Bhopal

Pragya Thakur, accused of Malegaon bomb blasts, was fielded by BJP from Bhopal during Lok Sabha elections. She defeated veteran Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijay Singh. Pragya was severely criticized for her remarks on Godse during the Lok Sabha election campaign. She had said that Nathuram Godse-who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi was a true patriot.

She drew major flak for saying that she had cursed Hemant Karkare, the 26/11 martyr. Her statements not only caused embarrassment for the BJP but even the Prime Minister himself. He said that he would never forgive Pragya Thakur for her comments on Godse. Disciplinary action was sought on her by the party as well. However, it yielded nothing.

Opposition using Black Magic on BJP MPs

Bhopal MP Pragya Thakur had also made a controversial statement after the death of former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Thakur had claimed that members of the opposition party were exercising their ‘Black Magic’ over BJP leaders. She claimed that a monk told her that the reason for the untimely death of BJP leaders was the use of ‘Black Magic’ by opposition parties.
