Karnataka Crisis: DK Shivakumar, Milind Deora detained by Mumbai Police

Along with him, Mumbai Congress leader Milind Deora was detained by the police too. They were accompanied by Mumbai Congress workers and former chief Sanjay Nirupam.

 

Mumbai| In a dramatic turn of events, the Mumbai Police has detained Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar. He was sitting in front of the Powai hotel gate since morning to meet the rebel MLAs.

Along with him, Mumbai Congress leader Milind Deora was detained by the police too. They were accompanied by Mumbai Congress workers and former chief Sanjay Nirupam.

Milind Deora also tweeted about the matter saying that the state government is misusing their powers. He said, “We have been taken into police custody while talking to the media in a peaceful manner outside the hotel. The way power is being misused is very shameful.”

In another tweet, he also said that it is a planned conspiracy of the BJP. He said, “Section 144 has also been imposed here. The BJP is playing dirty politics by misusing its power in Maharashtra. It is their planned conspiracy.

The Congress leaders joined DK Shivakumar in protesting against the Mumbai Police who has not allowed the Karnataka leader to go inside the hotel. Yesterday, the rebel MLAs had written a letter to the Mumbai Police commissioner seeking protection from their bosses. They had clarified that they do not want to meet Shivakumar. However, he was adamant on meeting them.

Ten MLAs from Congress-JDS coalition resigned from their posts on Saturday. They flew down to Mumbai on the same day. The MLAs were camped in Sofitel Hotel earlier. Later, they shifted to the Rennaissance hotel in Powai.
