Bribe accused CBI’s Rakesh Asthana is PM Modi’s ‘Blue-eyed boy’: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged Rakesh Asthana, CBI special director who is booked by the Central Beaurea of Investigation of being Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Blue-eyed-boy’.

Rahul Gandhi further alleged that PM Modi has turned CBI into a weapon of political vendetta. Taking on Twitter Gandhi wrote, “The PM’s blue-eyed boy, Gujarat cadre officer, of Godra SIT fame, infiltrated as No. 2 into the CBI, has now been caught taking bribes. Under this PM, the CBI is a weapon of political vendetta. An institution in terminal decline that’s at war with itself.”

The Central Beaureu of Investigation is currently facing a power tussle between its top officials as according to CBI officials, Rakesh Asthana is been booked for allegedly taking bribes to provide relief to businessman being investigated by him in a case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi. While the Centre Vigilance Commission is also investigating the allegation of Rakesh Asthana alleging the businessman had paid CBI Director Alok Verma Rs 2 crore to get relief in the case. Asthana also wrote a letter Cabinet Secretary regarding this.
