BSP Supremo Mayawati blames BJP, RSS for ‘Bharat Bandh’ against SC/ST act

BSP

New Delhi | Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday blamed the BJP and its political ideologue RSS for the ‘Bharat Bandh’ organised against the amendment to the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on 6 September.

Mayawati termed the strike a conspiracy of the BJP and an event orchestrated by the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). In an issued statement Mayawati called this event a conspiracy was being hatched by the ruling party to divert the attention of the people from various burning issues like the fuel price rise and the falling value of the Rupee against the US dollar.

Criticising the Narendra Modi-led BJP government Mayawati said the alleged country was already suffering the consequences of the wrong economic policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government and alleged that the same forces were now trying to play “dirty politics” on the issue.

Mayawati also defended the amendment of the SC/ST Act (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, saying it depended on the mentality of the government on whether the Act was misused or not. Mayawati further added that people are more hassled by rising fuel prices, the dropping Indian Rupee than such issues which were nothing more than a ploy to deflect people’s minds from such issues and the failure of GST and demonetisation.

Officials fear that even Interpol Notice may not help extradite Mehul Choksi to India

TestHostEntry

The CBI officials fear that even an Interpol notice against the fugitive billionaire Mehul Choksi may not help to extradite him to India. The Central Bureau of Investigation has been making meticulous efforts to make sure that Mehul Choksi, is sent back to the country.

As per an official of the CBI, Mehul Choksi, unlike his nephew Nirav Modi, appears to have planned his escape in a very calculated fashion.

The CBI had recently made a request for a Red Corner Notice against Mehul Choksi and is actively pursuing the case. So much so, it gave a strong contradiction to allegations made by Mehul Choksi that the cases against him are ‘politically motivated’.

However, the request for Red Corner Notice was put on hold by the Interpol after Mehul Choksi made a representation during which he alleged that the cases against him was an upshot of a ‘political consipracy’. He raised questions about the state of the jails in India, his health and personal safety among other things.

Nonetheless, the CBI was quick to give a reasonable rebuttal to the “baseless” assertions of the fugitive diamantaire who is alleged to be the prime accused in the biggest financial fraud of India which amounts up to $2 billion in Punjab National Bank, stated the officials.

The case has now moved to a five-member Interpol committee court, known as Commission for Control of Files, which will next month gauge the contentions of both the sides and give its judgement on the request for issuing a Red Corner Notice against Mehul Choksi, stated the officials.
