BSP wont ally with Congress in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan: Mayawati

BSP

New Delhi | Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Wednesday going against the opposition idea of a united alliance against the BJP in the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha election said that it won’t ally with the Congress for elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference, Mayawati said, “They (Congress) are getting arrogant and are under the misconception that they can defeat the BJP on their own but the ground reality is that people haven’t forgiven Congress party for their mistakes and corruption. They don’t seem to be ready to rectify themselves.”

Attacking the senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for the failure in forming the alliance Mayawati said, “Congress leaders like Digvijaya Singh do not wish for a Congress-BSP alliance. They are afraid of agencies like ED, CBI.” The BSP chief further alleged, “Digvijaya, who is also a BJP agent, is giving statements that Mayawati Ji is under a lot of pressure from the Centre, so she doesn’t want this alliance. This is baseless.” She also stated that Rahul and Sonia Gandhi were ready for an ‘acceptable alliance’ but other Congress leaders were unwilling.

Questioning the behaviour of the Congress party, Mayawati said,” Congress’ objective is not to defeat BJP but to target its allies… Congress is facing the results of its actions but is not improving its policies.” She further added, “Congress’ arrogance knows no bounds. They say that they will defeat BJP on their own. But the ground reality is that the people have punished the Congress and are not ready to forgive them. This is why BJP took advantage of this fact and is in power across many states today. And it is spreading the politics of hatred based on casteism and communalism.”

Responding to the allegations of BSP chief Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, “At times, out of emotions, sweet and bitter things are said. But at last, if Mayawati Ji holds absolute trust in Rahul Gandhi & Sonia Gandhi then other creases can be ironed out.”
