Amidst the ongoing mud-slinging between the BJP and Congress over the links with infamous data mining giant Cambridge Analytica, a testimony of the Facebook data breach whistleblower has come up which include shocking details.

Christopher Wylie, a former employee with Cambridge Analytica testified in Britain’s House of Commons before the digital, culture, media and sports committee. In a testimony which is still underway, Wylie revealed that Cambridge Analytica worked extensively in India and also has an office here.

Testifying against his former employer, Wylie said that Cambridge Analytica is like modern day coloniser who doesn’t care what is legal or illegal as long as the job is getting done. During the testimony, he also named Congress as CA’s possible client in India. Christopher Wylie said that the client was possibly Congress but the company has undertaken all kinds of projects in the country. He further added, “I don’t remember a national project but I know regionally. India’s so big that one state can be as big as Britain.” Reportedly, he also mentioned that the CA has an office and some staff in India. Christopher Wylie said that he also might have some more details regarding CA’s India operations.

The Cambridge Analytica is accused of using the private data of over 50 million Facebook users in an unauthorised manner. The company was also involved in US President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016. Recently, BJP, Congress and JDU had come under scanner for their alleged links with the company. According to the website of India partner of CA- which has been pulled down- the company worked on 2010 Bihar Assembly elections with the BJP-JDU alliance. The LinkedIn profile of the director of CA’s India partner also boasted of helping the BJP to achieve its target of 272+.
