New Delhi: The Central government is currently making a new mantra about the next year’s parliamentary election. The government is planning to hold simultaneous assembly elections in 11 states together. According to sources, elections can be held in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Haryana, along with Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is thinking to call an all-party meeting regarding this. According to Constitution, there is no need to amend the Constitution to conduct elections in this manner. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been insisting on the issue of single country-single election since the formation of the BJP government.

The Assembly elections are going to held in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan later this year, while assembly elections in Orissa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram are going to be held during in the 2019 general elections. In such a situation, it can be assumed that the government will conduct all the states assembly elections with the Lok Sabha. The government is considering to convene an all-party meeting on this issue to create consensus on the election of the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assemblies. This meeting can be conducted by the Law Commission after the recommendation of the legal framework in this case.
Official sources said that on the issue of holding elections together, the all-party meeting may be convened in the coming days to increase the scope of discussion between the leaders. However, the final decision has not been taken yet to convene the meeting. Sources further added that the government is waiting for the report of the Law Commission, which will present the legal framework for the two elections together.
