“Clapping Won’t Help”: Rahul Gandhi’s Latest Barb On PM Modi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the clapping will not help as the Small and medium scale businesses affected need more support.

 

New Modi| From Midnight today India will be following a self-imposed curfew. the idea was mooted by Prime Minister Modi during his address to the nation to increase the habit off staying indoors during the Coronavirus outbreak. He asked the people to be inside their houses on Sunday in a self-quarantine and urged them to not leave the house. He requested people to follow the Janta Curfew.

PM Modi also asked the people to come out in their balconies for 5 minutes at 5 minutes of Sunday and appreciate the work done by Health professionals, doctors and nurses by clapping or banging utensils. While several people welcomed the idea, criticism followed too. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who earlier called Coronavirus a Tsunami, however, slammed the idea.

He said that the clapping will not help as the Small and medium scale businesses affected need more support. Taking it to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said, “Coronavirus is a major attack on our fragile economy. Small, medium scale businessmen and daily wage workers are the worst affected. Clapping won’t help them. Today, a huge economic package is needed such as cash help, tax breaks and debt repayment. Take quick steps”

Rahul Gandhi’s criticism came at a time when the opposition slammed the Prime Minister for not addressing the issues related to the livelihood, daily wage earners and economy during his press conference.
