Cong MP Adhir Chowdhury teaches Modi govt ‘Secularism’ in Lok Sabha

New Delhi | With the beginning of the 17th Lok Sabha the Narendra Modi led government has started feeling the heat of the opposition from none other than its arch rival Congress.

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury during his first address as the Congress Lok Sabha leader while congratulating the new appointed Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla criticised the Narendra Modi government.

Praising Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Chowdhary said, “You are our Guardian and also our mentor. You have been associated with the social sector with the agriculture sector. In this way, we hope that you will take initiative in improving the situation of the farmers of the country as 36 farmers are dialing committing suicide in India.”

Diverting the Lok Sabha speaker’s attention on pending bills, Chowdhury said, Since few year lesser bills are being sent to the Standing Committee, the speaker needs to pay attention to this. Criticising the government on bring ordinance on various bills such as Triple Talaq, he said, “The speaker should take care that law should not be adopted through the ordinance.”

Taking a dig on PM Modi statement asking the opposition to be fair, the Congress leader said,” If there is a parliamentary system in a democracy, there is a multi-party democracy then there will be conflicts with the side and the opposition, but you (Speaker) have to be fair.

Responding to the chants of Jai Sri Ram and Vadhe Mataram in the Lok Sabha, the Congress MP said,”Jab Mullah ko Masjid mein Ram nazar aayein,jab pujari ko Mandir mein Rehman nazar aayein, duniya ki surat badal jayegi jab insaan ko insaan mein insaan nazar aaye.”
