Kalita, a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, announced his decision to step down on Twitter, shortly after a meeting of Congress MPs was held in Parliament House.
“But the thing is that the mood of the nation has changed and it is against the wishes of the people.”
“The Congress leadership is trying to completely destroy the party. No one can stop the Congress party from destruction,” Bhubaneswar Kalita said in the letter.
Kalita has said that the resignation has been accepted.
However, he told ThePrint that he has not written any such letter and will reveal his reasons in a few days.
