Congress Not To Be Part Of Omar Abdullah Govt

Congress

Hours ahead of NC leader Omar Abdullah’s oath-taking ceremony, the Congress has said that it will not be part of the Omar Abdullah government in Jammu and Kashmir and that it will support the government from outside, according to reports.

The J&K unit of Congress wished to be part of the government, but the party’s top brass was unhappy with the performance in the UT. Reports suggested that instead of giving ministerial posts to a few leaders, pressure should be maintained on the local unit to strengthen the organization in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NC won 42 out of the 90 seats, while ally Congress bagged six. Five independent MLAs and a lone AAP MLA also declared their support for the Abdullah government.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi will be present at the oath-taking ceremony of Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.
