Ashok Gehlot who was AICC General Secretary in charge of Gujarat has been replaced by Rajeev Satav.
In a major restructuring so far, the Indian National Congress has made few re-appointments indicating a generational shift in the party leadership. As a part of the rejig, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been appointed as an AICC general secretary in charge of organisation and training. Earlier, this post was held by Janardan Dwivedi who is said to be the close confidante of former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Dwiwedi held this post for over two decades. However, now he has been asked to step down as Gehlot will take over the post. Similarly, Ashok Gehlot who was AICC General Secretary in charge of Gujarat has been replaced by Rajeev Satav. Ashok Gehlot played a crucial role ahead of Gujarat Assembly elections in December last year. He had also contributed to mobilising the Gujarat cadre of the party.
On the other hand, Jitendra Singh will replace B K Hariprasad as in-charge of the party’s affairs in Odisha, respectively. Jitendra Singh had served as a Union Minister during UPA government.

In another major rejig, Rahul Gandhi replaced Mahendra Joshi and appointed Lalji Desai as the chief organiser of the All India Congress Seva Dal. The revamp has come in the wake of Congress President Rahul Gandhi stressing the need of revamping in the organizational structure of the party at a plenary session.
