Congress Releases Second List Of 41 Candidates For UP Elections, Includes 16 Women

Lucknow: The dates for the upcoming assembly elections for five states including Uttar Pradesh have been announced. Congress has released the second list of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Congress has given tickets to 16 women candidates on this list. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has already announced to give tickets to 40 percent women.

Congress has made Sikandar Valmiki a candidate from Agra Cantonment. After meeting Arun Valmiki’s family, Priyanka Gandhi had said that Congress would give the ticket to Valmiki Samaj. Hemant Chahar has been given ticket from Fatehpur Sikri.

The Congress had earlier released its first list of 125 candidates for the UP assembly elections on Thursday, in which the names of 50 women candidates were specifically mentioned. The first list released by the Congress for the UP elections includes party Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, former Union Minister Salman Khurshid’s wife Louise Khurshid, as well as Sadaf Jafar and many other women struggling in various fields.

Congress has nominated Asha Singh, the mother of the victim of the Unnao gang-rape case. Congress and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had vigorously raised the demand for justice in this case and targeted the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh.

Elections for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh are to be held in seven phases. The first phase of polling is to be held on February 10. Voting will be held in UP in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3, 7. While the counting of votes will take place on March 10.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, on January 13, released the first list of candidates for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022. The total names of 125 candidates were announced. Out of these 125 candidates 40 percent were women, 40 percent were youths.
