“Could Have Done Better…”: Mamata Banerjee On TMC’s Performance In Goa Polls

All India Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, ahead of the Goa Assembly election results which will be declared on March 10, said on Tuesday that her party could have done better in the coastal state if it had had more time.

“I am happy that we were able to reach out to every family in Goa with our logo. We really started late. Had we got more time, we could have done better,” she said.

According to various Exit Polls, released after the culmination of 7th and final phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening, the TMC alliance is likely to win between two and five seats out of 40 in Goa.

Speaking on her party’s plans for the future, Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that Bengal “will show the path for the 2024 fight”. She added, “We have to strengthen ourselves in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tripura and other parts of the country. TMC leaders will have to travel to these parts.”

Taking on the saffron party, Ms Banerjee said: “The BJP is trying to create ruckus of democracy. There is currently no alternative in Delhi, which is why they are staying.”

She also said that the TMC will celebrate the first anniversary of its victory in the West Bengal Assembly election of 2021 from May 5 onwards.
