With the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India rising to 324, the list of people placed under quarantine at govt facilities is continuously growing.
New Delhi| Thousands of people under quarantine at government facilities will get a new set of books, including a compilation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches, to keep them company, according to a report in the Business Standard.
People in Army-run facilities across the country will get to read books on key events, such as the passage of CAA, Ayodha verdict and Article 370, during Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs regime in the last six years.
A set of six books on Modi governance with titles such as â100 Days of Bold Initiatives and Decisive Actionsâ , âA Splendid Startâ and âFifty Days of Modi Government – Decisive and Directionalâ with prominent quotes of PM Modi, details of every government scheme launched in the last six years and his foreign visits are being sent to all quarantine centres.
âWe regularly distribute the copies of these speeches to various dignitaries, as well as to schools and colleges on various occasions,â said a source aware of the development. The source said these could also be distributed at all the quarantine centres across the country.
The number of people in quarantine in India to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, is rising continually.
The health and the I&B ministries are coordinating the transport of these books- all published by the I&B ministry in the last one year. The Hindi versions of the books, along with the English ones, have also been sent to most of the centres.

The Army is operating a quarantine facility in Manesar, while the one in Hindon, near Ghaziabad, is being operated by the air force. The Ministry of Defence has set up seven more quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients recently, especially for Indian citizens being brought back from COVID-19 hit countries. The facilities have been set up at Jaisalmer, Suratgadh, Jhansi, Jodhpur, Deolali, Kolkata and Chennai.
Army spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand said all the facilities have basic recreation such as TV and magazines, and a board of chess. “Press Information Bureau has sent some books to be sent to all the centres,” he said.
Among the most comprehensive books to be sent to the centres is, ‘Transforming India’ that lists over 150 schemes introduced by the government in the last six years that represent, “the dawn of a new India.”
