Early election may happen, start campaigning on war footing: Mayawati tells workers

Ecstatic after the bypoll win, Mayawati told her workers that BJP leaders are having sleepless nights. “There is enough possibility that the BJP government may call for early elections,” she said.

A day after the big win of the SP-BSP alliance in Gorakhpur and Phulpur bypolls, BSP supremo has warned the party workers of early elections. On Thursday, Mayawati addressed the party workers from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh in Chandigarh.

Interestingly, the same possibility was expressed by former Congress President Sonia Gandhi a few days ago. Ecstatic after the bypoll win, Mayawati told her workers that BJP leaders are having sleepless nights after the humiliating defeat in all the three lok sabha bypolls. “There is enough possibility that the BJP government may call for early elections,” she said. She further added that BJP is now worrying about its deteriorating support. “Several states are going for assembly elections before 2019 and the BJP is fearing that it may face a worsening situation, ” said Mayawati.

Mayawati also asked her workers to brace themselves from the agenda of BJP’s parent organisation RSS. Addressing the gathering, she told them to start campaigning for Lok Sabha elections on war footing. Invoking the EVM tampering issue, she said, “The key to BJP’s success since 2014 is the EVMs.” Training guns at the ruling party she said that it is using state machineries such as CBI, ED and IT department for suppressing the voice of opposition.

On the other hand, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav too expressed confidence after the party’s victory. He said that after this defeat, BJPs arrogance will reduce. Talking about his alliance with arch-rival Mayawati he said, “People keep asking me about the alliance, but sometimes we have to forget the past.”

Asked about SP’s relation with Congress, Akhilesh said that both he and Congress President Rahul Gandhi share a cordial relation as they are young. He also asserted that both the parties need to work together to solve the problems prevailing in this country.
