ED questions Raj Thackeray in IL&FS scam for over 8 hours

Thane | Enforcement Directorate grilled Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for over 8 hours on Thursday in the IL&FS scam.

Raj Thackeray arrived at the Ballard Estate office of the agency at around 11:30 am after which he was questioned on the first-floor office of the building.

He did not respond to any queries from waiting media personnel.

Questioning of Raj Thackeray was primarily done to know the shareholding pattern of the firm Kohinoor CTNL and money trail of the loan amount disbursed by Il&FS to Kohinoor CTNL.

The ED is probing irregularities in loans and equity investment, worth over Rs 450 crore by IL&FS in Kohinoor CTNL Infrastructure Company, which is developing Kohinoor Square tower in Mumbai’s Dadar area.

Raj Thackeray is one of the founders of Kohinoor CTNL, along with Unmesh Joshi, who is the son of the former chief minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi.

The amount of the shares which were sold off is under scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Section 144 was imposed around the ED office in Thane to ensure there was no unrest. A few MNS leaders were detained in Mumbai and Thane while notices were sent to various others.
