Election Commission’s actions are a direct attack on the economy: Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata | West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday thanked various leaders for their support in her fight against the Election Commission.

She wrote on the microblogging site Twitter, ” Thanks and gratitude to Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav,Congress, Chandrababu Naidu and others for expressing solidarity and support to us and the people of Bengal. EC’s biased actions under the directions of the BJP are a direct attack on democracy. People will give a befitting reply”.

The Election Commission yesterday announced that all the election campaigning will stop from today by 10 PM.

However, various opposition leaders have objected to the timing of the EC and asked why wait for 24 hours to stop the campaigning and whether the wait was to let PM Modi finish his two rallies today.

They have come in support of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and have accused the government body of being “a pawn of the BJP”.
