Focused on legal practice, not involved in active politics: AAP leader Ashish Khetan

New Delhi | Former Journalist and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khetan on Wednesday announced his departure from AAP saying he is completely focused on his legal practice and currently not involved in active politics.

Taking on twitter, Khetan wrote, “I am completely focused on my legal practice and not involved in active politics at the moment. Rest is all extrapolation.”

Khetan’s tweet has come after rumours stating his exit from the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party started erupting in media. In a Facebook post clarifying the rumours, Khetan wrote,” Early this year I made my decision to quit active politics after much deliberation and in consultation with family and close friends. However, since both the party and the government were beset with a series of crises, I waited for an opportune time to formalize my decision. I had also informed the party leadership about my decision, on more than one occasion.”

He further stated that his personal decision to move away from the party and electoral politics, should not be viewed as a reflection on AAP, in any way whatsoever. “I have only received love and respect from the party and its members and volunteers. And I will be forever grateful for that,” he added.

Aam Aadmi is currently facing a tough time after the exit of its major leader in recent times including Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav. Senior AAP leader Ashutosh on 15 August announced his departure from AAP citing personal issues. In a tweet, Ashutosh said, “Every journey has an end. My association with AAP which was beautiful/revolutionary has also an end. I have resigned from the PARTY/requested PAC to accept the same. It is purely from a very very personal reason. Thanks to party/all of them who supported me throughout. Thanks.”
