For the first time No ration allowance to CRPF Jawans in September agency denies fund crunch

The CRPF said this amount is more than six times the monthly ration allowance of jawans and other non-gazetted rank officers

New Delhi: The CRPF Jawans were not given the ration allowance for the month of September. According to reports, this was due to the fund crunch faced by the agency. The ration allowance is provided to the CRPF jawans and non-gazetted officers for their daily meals and is also included in their monthly salaries.

However, the CRPF has denied the reports saying it is incorrect that they have “ran out” of ration money. A senior official said on Sunday that there was a delay by the government of India in sanctioning the additional funds of Rs 800 crore for the CRPF which prompted the paramilitary force to stop the Ration Money Allowance (RMA) for its troops this month.

The CRPF further clarified that the process for payment of ration money (about Rs 3,600) for September is in progress and it will be paid soon.

“In the past, the force has made at least three communications to the ministry. The RMA will be provided to troops in receipt of the additional budget from the ministry,” it said.
