Former CM Sheila Dikshit appointed as Delhi Congress chief

New Delhi | The Congress party today announced the appointement of Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as the new chief of the Delhi unit.

Announcing the appointment of Dikshit, Former Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken wrote,” I congratulate Shiela Dikshit ji for being appointed the DPCC (Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee) President. I am confident that under her leadership, we will play the role of strong opposition to Modi and Kejriwal governments.” Earlier on January 4, Ajay Maken stepped down from the Delhi Congress chief post citing his health condition.

Along with Dikshit, Devendra Yadav, Rajesh Lilothia and Haroon Yusuf are appointed as the working president of the party. Sheila Dikshit earlier served as the Chief Minister of Delhi for a period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013 after being defeated by Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal in the 2013 assembly election. Dikshit a former MP also served as the governor of Kerala.
