Paris | France has decided to freeze the assets of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) founder and leader Masood Azhar, the French government said on Friday.
In a statement released today, it said,” France has always been and always will be by India’s side in the fight against terrorism”.
It further added, “We will raise this issue in the European Union with a view to including Azhar in the European Union list of persons, groups and entities involved in terrorist acts”.
After Pulwama attack, which JeM had claimed the responsibility for, France was one of the first countries to support India in the United Nations Security Council to enlist its founder and chief Masood Azhar in the designated global terrorist list. However, the attempt has been unsuccessful so far due to China repeatedly blocking India’s bid.
