Kejriwal said that 11 thousand hotspots will be installed for free WiFi in the entire Delhi. Each person will get 15 GB of free data every month.
New Delhi| Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party government on Thursday announced to provide free WiFi services to the city residents. The promise comes months ahead of crucial Delhi assembly elections. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with his cabinet earlier in the day.
After the meeting, he announced the decision of installing hotspots in various parts of Delhi to facilitate free internet service. Besides, he announced that one lakh 40 thousand CCTV cameras will be installed as well. As the elections are nearing, Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party is announcing a slew of sops for the voters.

In addition to the 1 lakh 40 thousand CCTV cameras installed in Delhi earlier, another set of 1 lakh 40 thousand CCTV cameras will be installed across Delhi. This will take the total number of CCTVs in the national capital region to 2 Lakh 80 Thousand. Kejriwal said, “Around 4000 CCTVs will be installed in each assembly segment in Delhi.”
Explaining the govt’s decision, Kejriwal said that 11 thousand hotspots will be installed for free WiFi in the entire Delhi. Each person will get 15 GB of free data every month. Out of a total 11 thousand, four thousand cameras will be installed at various bus stops in Delhi. Rest will be installed in different assembly constituency.

The AAP supremo had announced populist measures in the past as well, such as free rides on Metro and bus fares for women commuters, which he claimed would become operational over the next two-three months. The freebies are likely to cost around Rs 1,600 crore a year of the exchequer.
He had also announced free electricity for consumption up to 200 units. Not only that, those using power between 201 to 401 units, would also get a 50% subsidy from the government.
