Goa Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo said that Parrikar’s health is showing no signs of improvement and thus the party has been forced to discuss the options.
Panji| Soon after Congress staked claim to form a government in Goa, the state BJP leaders held an “emergency meeting” here on Saturday. The meeting was held to discuss the deteriorating health of Goa CM Manohar Parrikar.
After the meeting, Goa Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo said that Parrikar’s health is showing no signs of improvement and thus the party has been forced to discuss the options. Lobo said that the party is also trying to take the alliance parties into confidence.
Talking to a News Agency he said, “Parrikar ji has been quite unwell since last night. Doctors are unable to tell us if he will get better. So an emergency was called to discuss the strategy to go forward.”
stressing that as long as Parrikar is there, no one will be nominated for the CM post, Lobo said that the party is constantly in touch with the allies Goa Forward party and Maharashtra Gomantak Party. He said,” His (Parrikar’s) chances of getting better are slim. He is unwell…If something happens the new CM will be from BJP. Only God knows when this will happen.”
Meanwhile, six Goa MLAs- three independent and three from Goa Forward Party led by Vijay Sardesai walked together to the CM’s house to show “unequivocal support” and “solidarity” to Parrikar.
On Saturday, the Congress party wrote to Governor Mridula Sinha to dismiss the Manohar Parrikar led BJP government. In the letter, the Congress party asked to dismiss BJP-led govt stating that the government is in “minority” and demanded to call single-largest party i.e Congress to form govt. The letter further stated that any attempt to bring Goa under President’s rule will be illegal and the Congress party will challenge such a decision. As a precaution, the party sent the letter to Raj Bhawan via e-mail, fax and even hand delivery. However, the governor is yet to give the Congress an appointment.
