Government Ends India-Myanmar Free Movement For Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the government’s decision to end free movement between India and Myanmar to bolster internal security. Shah emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to border security. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) made the call to scrap the Free Movement Regime (FMR) to safeguard India’s internal security and preserve the demographic structure of its northeastern states bordering Myanmar.
