New Delhi | Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Monday has warned his own party over the increasing fuel prices.
Responding to the Nationwide protest called by the opposition parties on the increasing fuel prices Swamy said that the government should not increase the Price to an extent which would lead the common people to agitate. Speaking to media, Swamy said, “I feel that the macroeconomic price for petrol is Rs 40 and somehow the PM must ask the Petroleum Minister to think as a part of Economic Affairs Ministry& not as Petroleum minister and stop setting prices so high that people can go to the point of revolt.”
Stating the logic behind the increasing fuel prices Swamy said,”When crude oil price rises the price of fuel must be raised is microeconomis and I am not in favour of microeconomics as it involves only two persons (buyer and seller) but here the whole economy is involved so it is a macro economics.”
The Congress party along with various other opposition parties on Monday had called for a nationwide strike against the rising fuel prices and dropping value of rupee. The Bharat Bandh called by the opposition parties was observed between 9 am and 3 pm in Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Haryana. Major 21 opposition parties including Samajwadi Party (SP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), CPI, MNS, DMK have extended their support for the Nationwide strike. While Parties like Shiv Sena and Trinamool Congress have opted to stay away from the strike.
