Government talked of democracy while endorsing attacks on free speech in India: Mallikarjun Kharge

Mallikarjun

New Delhi | Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday while speaking on the No-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha alleged that the Narendra Modi government talked of democracy in ancient history while endorsing attacks on free speech in India.

The leader of the Opposition while speaking on the issue of the special status of Andhra Pradesh said, “The Congress is with Andhra Pradesh’s people, not with TDP or any party, our whole coalition is with Andhra Pradesh’s people”. Questioning the Central government on the issue of farmers, Kharge said “MSP was raised two days back with 7 months left for the polls, while farmer suicides have risen in the Government’s term”.

Mallikarjun Kharge further questioned the benefits of crop insurance. He said, “8 crore premiums of farmers collected, but amounts released are only 3 lakhs odd in Karnataka alone”. Kharge concluded with quoting Mohan Bhagwat’s statement regarding the intention to amend the Constitution. “Mohan Bhagwat wants to remove the parts borrowed from foreign constitutions,” added Bhagwat.

BJP is a one-man show, two-man army: Tarik Anwar

TestHostEntry

New Delhi | Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Tarik Anwar on Friday while speaking on the No-confidence motion in Lok Sabha alleged that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is just a one-man show a two-man army.

“Even Rajnath Singh’s advice isn’t considered in this party, we are told. Margdarshak Mandal is an eyewash. That’s why even allies of BJP ( TDP, Shiv Sena) are walking away,” said Tarik Anwar.

Anwar without naming the BJP leader said that ” prominent BJP MP whom I won’t name has said, “Antaratma giri hui hai”. Accusing the BJP of disrespecting its senior leaders, the NCP leader said, “if they (BJP) listen to their own senior leaders like Advaniji, state of affairs would be better”.

Attacking the central government, Anwar added that instead of defending their failings, they attack previous governments’ failings. ” In the house, you (NDA) may be in majority, but outside the House, Janta is thinking of how to get rid of the ‘jumlebaazi sarkar’,” Anwar concluded.
