Hardik Patel takes a dig at liquor ban in Gujarat Model

Hardik Patel alleged, “The liquor ban is just on paper. In reality, all the BJP members have stakes in liquor businesses.”

In the wake of hit and run case in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, Hardik Patel has taken the opportunity to draw a jibe at the Gujarat Model. On Saturday, BJP leader Manoj Baitha’s SUV hit 9 children who were returning home from school. While crossing the national highway, a speeding SUV mowed them down. It is also alleged that Manoj Baitha was drunk driving the car when it hit the children.

While BJP has suspended the accused leader for a period of 6 years, opposition has cornered the ruling JD(U)-BJP coalition. Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted about the incident yesterday and slammed the Bihar government. Taking a jibe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s drive of Liquor Ban, he asked, “Nitish ji, is this the truth behind your Liquor ban drive?” Accusing the government of saving the accused, he further asked whom Nitish Kumar’s inner voice is saving.

Close on the heels of the liquor Ban jibe, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader too today tweeted saying Gujarat’s Alcohol ban is a sham. Patel alleged that liquor amounting 200 crore has been found in Gujarat in last two years. “The liquor ban is just on paper. In reality, all the BJP members have stakes in liquor businesses,” Patel further alleged.

Taking a dig at Gujarat Model, he said that even after the truth about liquor ban is exposed, the Gujarat Model is still hailed.
