Harsimrat Kaur Badal questions Kejriwal’s silence on Sukhpal Khaira’s support to referendum 2020

New Delhi | Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday questioned Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal’s silence on AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira’s support to the Referendum 2020.

“It’s disgraceful that a prominent leader of Punjab is supporting people who want to divide India & Kejriwal is not saying a word,” Kaur told media.

The BJP minister accused that the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly for working in favour of the anti-national activities. “Sukhpal Khaira kaunse dollar ki bhaasha bol rahe hain, woh dollar unko kaunse desh de rahe hain.”he added.

Punjab assembly leader of opposition Sukhpal Khaira had earlier tweeted, “Although I’m not a votary of 2020 referendum seeking a separate homeland for Sikhs but i don’t hesitate to say that it’s a result of a consistent policy of bias, discrimination n persecution of Sikhs ever since partition, be it attack on Darbar Sahib, genocide of Sikhs in 1984 etc!”

Referendum 2020 asks Sikhs living across the world to build a consensus in favour of Khalistan and sign a declaration for the formation of a sovereign and independent country in “India-occupied Punjab” on the basis that Sikhs are the indigenous people of Punjab and have a historical homeland, are a separate religion and have the right to self-determination.

This is being done under article 1 of charter of the United Nations. “After an unofficial referendum in 2020, we plan to ask United Nations to get it done officially,” says SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The referendum also asks Sikhs to reject article 25(b)(2) of Constitution that says Sikhs are a part of Hindu religion

Earlier Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday condemned the statement of Aam Aadmi Party leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s for supporting the Referendum 2020 that aims for Punjab to secede from the Indian Union. He asked AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal to clarify his stand on Referendum 2020.
