The saffron party workers were sprayed with sanitizer, then local leaders handed over the Trinamool flag to them.
Around 150 BJP workers were on Thursday inducted into the Trinamool Congress after local Trinamool Congress leaders sprayed sanitizers on them in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. Dulal Rai, a block level member of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress, said that a stage was set up in Ilambazar where the saffron party workers were sprayed with sanitizer, then local leaders handed over the Trinamool flag to them.
Rai said those working for the BJP had got infected with the virus. “Before taking them back, we had to ensure that they become infection free as our aim is to get rid of the virus,” Rai said. However, BJP district president Dhruv Saha claimed that his party workers were forced to join the Trinamool Congress. He said that no one has gone from BJP to Trinamool on their own.

Saha said that Trinamool leaders are organizing such programs and forcing BJP workers to join Trinamool in an attempt to avoid allegations of post-poll violence. In Hooghly district two days ago, 200 BJP workers had to shave their heads to absolve themselves of the “sin” of switching to the saffron party ahead of the assembly polls, before returning to Trinamool Congress.
