“This started from Delhi elections, BJP Leaders have been giving out provocative speeches,” Sonia Gandhi said referring to BJP Leader Kapil Mishra’s speech.

New Delhi| Congress President Sonia Gandhi slammed Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over their inability to contain the Delhi riots. She said the responsibility of Delhi Violence lies with the Home Minister Amit Shah. “Home Minister should come forward and take responsibility. He should resign immediately,” she said. Gandhi also criticized Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal saying that he failed to maintain peace and harmony in the state.

As Delhi Violence enters the third day, Congress President Sonia Gandhi held a meeting of Congress Working Committee. This meeting was attended by former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and Rajya Sabha MP P Chidambaram and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The CWC passed a resolution against Delhi Violence. Reading out the resolution, Sonia Gandhi called the violence in Delhi a “Deliberate Conspiracy” to disrupt the peace. “This started from Delhi elections, BJP Leaders have been giving out provocative speeches. A BJP leader gave three days ultimatum to police. He said that, don’t say anything to us after three days.” Sonia Gandhi was referring to Delhi BJP Leader Kapil Mishra’s provocative speech in which he said that he and his supporters will keep quiet until Donald Trump leaves. If the Anti-CAA protests are not cleared till then, they won’t be stopped by police.

She further asked four questions to Modi government:

  1. Where was Home Minister from Sunday and what was he doing?
  2. Where was Delhi CM from Sunday and what was he doing?
  3. What was the Intelligence Info and What Action was taken on it?
  4. How much police was deployed in the riot-hit areas of north-east Delhi? Why were the CAPF not called?

Sonia Gandhi also suggested that adequate security forces should be deployed in the riot-hit areas of Delhi. “Peace committees should be formed in mohallas. A senior civil servant should be posted in each area to ensure smooth response machinery. Delhi CM should be seen in riot-hit areas,” She said.

So far 20 people have died including a head constable of Delhi Police in the Delhi violence that has spanned over three days.
